Community Outreach
The world is always a better place if you can do what you can to improve it for others. Aside from always trying to rescue and rehabilitate horses and ponies (and by doing so offering them a second chance at life) we also have our fingers in the pots of some other charities. If you would like to get involved in one of our projects, please contact us via email to find out more.
REEA Foundation
Our landlord is the REEA Foundation - a property that has long been an agricultural holding offers an incredible escape from the city. Among some of our tenants, we are lucky enough to be next door neighbours to Joburgs very own Winery (Gerakaris Wines) the REEA Veggies Gardens and Delta Cafe. The property also boasts an incredible secondhand bookshop and charity shop - both of which are volunteer run and all proceeds go to REEA. All tenants on our lovely river property pay monthly rental, which helps with the running costs of the York Avenue Hostel, home to our beloved medical residents and staff.
Nazareth House Orphans
One of our longest standing outreach programs is working with the HIV/AIDS Orphans of Nazareth House. Each Tuesday (before Coronavirus) a group of children would attend their weekly riding lesson at no charge. These sessions are run by volunteer riders and instructors, and were an incredible way for our older juniors to complete their community service hours.
We also, (again, before Corona) hosting an annual Christmas Party for theme at various locations including Delta Park, Rambling Rose Gardens, the stables themselves and Aj's In The Park.
Our annual Halloween Trick or Treat (more info below) is held each year to collect sweet donations for these children. Our motto is "Help us spread some sweetness on this spooky night" and the looks on their faces when we hand over the donations always makes the event so much more worthwhile.
Nazareth House is always incredibly grateful for any donations in the forms of children's clothes, books, toys, toiletries and bedding. Any donations can be dropped off at the stables and we will make sure it reaches them.
Volunteers for our riding program is only open to experienced horse handlers, instructors and lungers.

Animal Outreach
As mentioned, we always do our best to try and rescue horses and ponies, and by doing so allowing an animal a chance at a second life. We have homed ponies from Society For Animals In Distress as well as having orchestrated private rescue trips.
We annually host fundraisers and collections for various animal charities (normally in winter, when those blanket drives make such a difference!) such as PETS, Paws R Us, SPCA, Animals In Distress and Nordic Rescue to mention but a few.
As we are often traveling to places that have these organisations near by, we are always happy to act as a drop off point and accept any type of donations to these wonderful causes.

Halloween Trick or Treat
Each year (except for 2020- Corona!!!) on Halloween Night, we fill the street of Craighall Park with the neighbourhood children dressed as witches and goblins, princess' and vampires and everything else in between! What makes our trick or treating that extra bit special, is that the ponies get dressed up too and offer rides to all the little bunny rabbits and pirates along the way!
Sweets that are collected are then (mostly - obviously our hard little workers keep some) donated to our Orphans Project, which we hand over at our annual Christmas Party with Nazareth House. Its a truly special event, and everyone is welcome each year. Keep an eye on our Facebook page around Halloween to find out more information!
